An emerging premium D2C beauty brand targeting a performance gap in the Indian market: a long-wear nail lacquer system matching Western salon-grade benchmarks
Challenge: Off-the-shelf white-label catalogues offered only standard short-wear formulations - adequate for the mass market but nowhere near the 7-day chip resistance and high-gloss finish the client's brand positioning demanded. The client needed a bespoke formula engineered from scratch: stable under Indian tropical heat and humidity conditions, free of internationally restricted ingredients, and backed by verifiable claims.

No domestic Indian manufacturer had the polymer chemistry expertise to develop this formulation. The challenge was finding a specialized Chinese R&D laboratory capable of bespoke nail lacquer engineering, proving that their formulation could withstand Indian climate conditions, and navigating the complex customs clearance process for importing flammable chemical goods into India.
